More than 4,000 runners will fill Manhattan Beach streets Saturday, Oct. 3, for the 49th annual MB10K. Residents should plan for road closures starting as early as 6 a.m.
The race begins at 7:30 a.m. with a split start at Ardmore Avenue and 4th Street and Valley Drive and 3rd Street. The 6.2-mile course winds through downtown and residential neighborhoods before finishing near the Manhattan Beach Pier.
When closures begin
The City of Manhattan Beach posted on X Tuesday, Sept. 29, that road closures begin at 6 a.m., with streets reopening on a rolling basis.
The MB10K race committee's own advisory, posted Sept. 24, lists a 6:30 a.m. start for closures. Residents near the course should be prepared by 6 a.m.
Streets reopen at roughly a 20-minute-per-mile pace, according to the MB10K FAQ page. Most closures should lift by about 9:15 a.m., but downtown streets may not reopen until 10 a.m. The finish area near the pier is estimated to be fully cleared by noon.
Runners still on the course after streets reopen will be required to move to sidewalks and obey traffic signals.
How to get out
Drivers north of Rosecrans Avenue should exit using Highland Avenue to Grand Avenue toward El Segundo before 7:45 a.m. After that time, drivers must head south to leave the area.
South of Rosecrans, the recommended route is south on Hermosa Avenue, right on 15th Street, then left on Manhattan Avenue. Drivers are clear past 2nd Street.
For questions about closures, the Manhattan Beach Police Department front desk is available around the clock at 310-802-5140, according to the race's posted materials.
