Twenty-five downtown Manhattan Beach businesses are challenging families to find Waldo throughout July, turning a stretch of Manhattan Avenue into a free, walkable scavenger hunt running from Saturday, July 5, through Thursday, July 30.
The hunt works like this: Pick up a Waldo "passport" at {pages} a bookstore, 904 Manhattan Ave., or at any participating shop. Then visit as many of the 25 locations as you can, collecting a stamp or signature at each stop. Ten stamps earn a Waldo sticker and a $1-off coupon for a Waldo book at {pages}. Twenty stamps enter you in a drawing for a deluxe set of Waldo books and other prizes.
The participating businesses span bakeries, restaurants, city offices, and the waterfront. The full list, according to the Manhattan Beach News: Becker's Bakery, Bella Beach Kids, Bespoke by Chase, Bread Head, Caffe Luxxe, City Hall, El Sombrero, Go Gently Nation, Gum Tree, Manhattan Beach Creamery, the Manhattan Beach Farmers' Market (Tuesdays, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.), Manhattan Beach Library, Manhattan Beach Police Department, Manhattan Meats, MB Post, Right Tribe, the Roundhouse Aquarium, Shade Hotel, Simmzy's, Skechers, Slay Italian Kitchen, Strand Section, Tabula Rasa, and Wright's.
