Redondo Union's flag football season ended Tuesday, Oct. 27, with a 19-12 loss to Palos Verdes in the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinals in Palos Verdes Estates.

Sea Hawks quarterback Blair Nolen threw for 266 yards in a losing effort. PV quarterback Ellie Correa threw three touchdowns and finished with 225 passing yards, according to the Daily Breeze. Correa also threw three interceptions, but the Sea Kings' defense collected four picks of its own to control the game.

PV had already beaten Redondo once this season, and the Daily Breeze reported that Sea Kings coach Bryan Tsudama knew his team would need mistake-free football to do it again.

The Sea Kings struck first. Correa connected with Addie Eroen on a 39-yard touchdown for a 7-0 lead with 5:35 left in the first quarter. Redondo answered with a long drive behind Nolen's runs of 10 and 13 yards and a 13-yard completion to Devin Watanabe on fourth-and-2. The Sea Hawks reached the PV 1-yard line, but Kallen Pope's fourth-down flag-pull in the backfield ended the threat.

Pope finished with two interceptions.

Ava McGovern deflected a Nolen pass late in the first half to preserve PV's 7-0 halftime lead. McGovern then opened the second half with a third-down sack that forced a Redondo punt. Correa found Audrey Goeppner for a 4-yard score to push the lead to 13-0 late in the third quarter, and she connected with Eroen again for a 2-yard touchdown that made it 19-0.

Nolen sparked the comeback. She hit Maya Miranda on a slant that turned into a 66-yard touchdown, cutting the deficit to 19-6 with 4:43 remaining. After Neliah Cardenas intercepted Correa, Nolen found Manhattan Farrell twice on fourth-down conversions. The second was a 4-yard touchdown that made it 19-12 with 1:48 left.

"I wish it would have happened a little earlier but that's not how it happened," Redondo coach Jake Jimenez said, according to the Daily Breeze.

The Sea Hawks attempted an onside conversion, needing 20 yards on one play from their own 20. Several PV defenders tipped the pass before April Sanchez intercepted it, and the Sea Kings ran out the clock.

Redondo finished the season 17-6, according to the Daily Breeze. The Sea Hawks opened the playoffs with a 19-14 first-round win over San Marcos and advanced through the second round before their season ended against PV.

Palos Verdes (21-3) will visit Corona del Mar in the Division 1 semifinals Saturday, Oct. 31.
