A bar crawl connecting the Redondo Beach Pier to the Hermosa Beach Pier will bring five South Bay watering holes together Saturday, Aug. 22, for an afternoon of drink specials, games and giveaways aimed at the queer community.
The Queer 2 Queer Pub Crawl, running from 2 to 8 p.m., is a collaboration between Hermosa Beach Pride and UNDRGRWND, a Los Angeles-based sapphic community organization. Hermosa Beach Pride announced the event on Instagram on Aug. 5, framing it as a way to bridge LA's queer scene and the South Bay, turning the coast into "the queer coast for the day."
The crawl starts at Project Barley, 136 International Boardwalk in Redondo Beach, and winds through Scholb on the Water, Patrick Molloy's, The Deck and Underground Pub & Grill before finishing near the Hermosa Beach Pier. The exact order of stops between the first and last has not been published.
Tickets come in two tiers. A $10 general admission includes drink specials, free Jell-O shots, appetizers, swag and a chance at prizes. A $25 ticket adds a $20 Uber credit, which organizers say saves $5 over buying the credit separately. Tickets are available through Hermosa Beach Pride's website.
Hermosa Beach Pride, a nonprofit formed in 2021, held its 6th Annual Pride Celebration June 12–14. The pub crawl is the group's first pier-to-pier event and its next listed activity on the organization's events page. UNDRGRWND, known on Instagram as @undrgrwnd.la, describes itself as creating spaces for queer connection across Los Angeles.
The Daily Breeze reported on the event Aug. 18. Organizers are welcoming attendees from across the region, whether they're coming from Culver City, West LA, Long Beach or already live in the South Bay.
Underground Pub & Grill, one of the participating Hermosa Beach bars, responded on Instagram: "Can't wait!"
