The Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair returns to Valley Drive on Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 for its 54th year. The free, two-day event features 180 arts and crafts vendors, live music on multiple stages and a morning parade.

The volunteer-run fair, held annually since 1972, stretches along Valley Drive between 15th and 21st streets. It extends into Live Oak Park, Dorsey Field and the Joslyn Center. Gates open at 10 a.m. both days and close at 6 p.m., according to Local Anchor, which published event details on Sept. 2.

The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. Oct. 3, led by local Scout troops. The Mira Costa High School Marching Band and Drill Teams close the procession. After the parade, multiple stages host live music and performances throughout the weekend.

180 vendors, Kid Country and a beer garden

Vendors will sell handmade jewelry, pottery, clothing and paintings across 180 booths. A beer garden serves craft brews, with last call at 5:30 p.m. and ticket sales ending at 5 p.m.

Kid Country offers free pony rides, a petting zoo, inflatables, magic shows and wild animal shows. Local groups run carnival-style game booths, with proceeds supporting their programs. Free games are also available.

Local nonprofits and clubs will staff booths to share information about their services and upcoming events.

City planning booth possible

Manhattan Beach Planning Commissioner Tokashiki asked city staff at the commission's July 9 and Aug. 13 meetings whether the Planning Division would have a booth at the fair. The city has not publicly confirmed whether the booth will appear.

Admission is free. Accessible parking is available in the Upper Civic Center Lot at 15th and Highland. Residents who want to volunteer can sign up at mbfair.org.
