Free live music is coming back to the sand south of the Hermosa Beach Pier on two Sundays in September, with Canadian reggae fusion act Magic! and longtime Grateful Dead tribute band Cubensis topping the bill.
The city announced the 2026 Concert Series lineup on Monday, Aug. 24, confirming five bands will perform across Sunday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 20. Both afternoons start at 3 p.m. at 1 Pier Avenue. Admission is free.
Magic!, the Los Angeles-based group behind the 2014 No. 1 hit "Rude," headlines Sept. 13. On Sept. 20, South Bay Music Connection act The Lucky Effect opens for Cubensis, the L.A. Dead tribute band that has logged more than 4,000 shows since 1987. The city has not yet named the Sept. 13 opening act.
"Bring a blanket, bring the kids and come enjoy the day with your neighbors and friends," Mayor Mike Detoy said in the announcement, calling the series "one of our City's longest-running and best-loved traditions."
The Concert Series dates to 1998 but was on hiatus for four years during the pandemic and amid production challenges. It returned under city ownership in 2024.
Hermosa Beach is accepting sponsorships and donations to offset production and talent costs. Details are at hermosabeach.gov/concertseries.
The series adds to a packed stretch of live entertainment in Hermosa Beach. As we reported Monday, Fiesta Hermosa returns Sept. 5–7 with four stages and 250 vendors.
