Catalina Avenue in Redondo Beach's Riviera Village will close to traffic on Saturday, Oct. 31, so costumed kids can trick-or-treat their way through the shopping district's storefronts.

The annual event runs from 3 to 8 p.m., according to the Riviera Village Association. Shops along Catalina Avenue between Avenue I and South Elena Street will hand out candy and treats outdoors until 6 p.m., while supplies last. The street stays closed to cars until 8 p.m.

The event draws thousands of children each year, according to the Riviera Village Association. Admission is free.

Parking

The association lists several parking options. Spots are available in the "triangle parking lot" between Avenida Del Norte and South Elena Street, along with street parking throughout the area. Cashless-only paid parking is available at Plaza Riviera, 1611 S. Catalina Ave., at the corner of Catalina and Avenue I. A paid lot two blocks away at Mira Mar Park, 201 Paseo de la Playa, offers additional spaces.

The night before: Redondo Beach Pier

Redondo Beach families can get an early start on Halloween at the pier on Friday, Oct. 30. Palos Verdes Pulse reported that the pier will host a free celebration at Fisherman's Wharf featuring trick-or-treating from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a magic show, music, arts and crafts, and photo opportunities from 6 to 8 p.m.
