The Redondo Beach Police Department will hold its 17th annual candlelight vigil for Domestic Violence Awareness Month on Saturday, Oct. 17, on the department's front lawn at 401 Diamond Street.
The free, public event runs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
It is open to survivors, family members and anyone who wants to show support, according to the department's event page. The 2026 national Domestic Violence Awareness Month theme is "With Survivors, Always," a call to keep showing up for survivors long after October ends. Purple is the official color of the month.
Past vigils have included remarks from local leaders and advocates, a candle lighting and a moment of reflection for people affected by domestic violence. Attendees are welcome to come alone or bring friends, family and coworkers.
Street parking is available on Diamond Street and surrounding blocks. Organizers recommend arriving 10 to 15 minutes early. Residents with accessibility questions can call the City of Redondo Beach at (310) 372-1171.
