The Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first women's conference on Friday, Oct. 9, a daylong event at the Sonesta Redondo Beach and Marina.

The conference, called Ignite: Mind, Body & Soul, runs from 8 a.m. to 2:35 p.m. at 300 N. Harbor Dr. An optional networking hour follows from 2:45 to 4:30 p.m. with a no-host bar and continued shopping at the Women's Marketplace, according to the Chamber's event page.

Registration includes breakfast, keynote speakers, breakout sessions, panel discussions, a seated lunch and parking. Ticket pricing had not been posted as of Friday, Sept. 25. Attendees can check redondochamber.org for updates.

Keynotes and panels

Marla Diann, a former entertainment publicist and breast cancer survivor who founded Reverie + Velvet, delivers the morning keynote. Diann served as speaker chair and two-term board member of the Los Angeles chapter of Susan G. Komen during a 22-year career.

Melanie Stricklan, co-founder of Slingshot Aerospace and senior vice president of special programs at Vast, gives the afternoon keynote. Stricklan served more than 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and logged over 1,500 flight hours.

The lunch panel pairs Tamala Lewis, senior director of community affairs for AEG's Dignity Health Sports Park, with Megan Vixie, chief engagement officer at Beach Cities Health District. Lewis sits on the Redondo Beach Chamber board and has spent more than 20 years at AEG.

Breakout sessions

Breakout sessions cover women's health, leadership, communications strategy, artificial intelligence and finding purpose.

Laura Stotland, owner of Local Anchor, and Sheilah Pacete, an AI strategist and founder of Six15 Media Group, co-lead a session on using AI as a productivity and creative tool. Kathy Hoss, founder of Eat Play Balance and a women's health expert, leads a session on hormones, metabolism and stress resilience. Tonya McKenzie, founder of Sand & Shores Media and a Los Angeles County commissioner, leads a session on communicating with confidence.

Janie Honeycutt, founder of Honeycutt Consulting and an ICF-credentialed executive coach, leads a session on leadership. Kathleen Terry, founder of Participative Management Systems, leads a session on turning passion into action. Terry holds leadership roles with Manhattan Beach Rotary and the South Bay Volunteer Center.

Dr. Joan Irvine, founder of Keep the Esplanade Beautiful, a Redondo Beach nonprofit named the Chamber's 2024 Nonprofit of the Year, is also listed as a speaker and panelist.

Women's Marketplace

The conference includes a Women's Marketplace open throughout the day. Attendees can shop and connect with women-owned businesses during breakfast, between sessions and during the after-hours networking period.
