Four people were shot near a Hawthorne shopping plaza early Thursday, Sept. 24. The shooter remains at large, according to Hawthorne police.

The Hawthorne Police Department said the shooting was reported at about 2:13 a.m. in the 14100 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, near Rosecrans Avenue, a department spokesperson told Patch. All four victims suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Three victims were taken to hospitals by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, while a fourth person made their way to a hospital on their own, according to MyNewsLA. CBS News Los Angeles reported that two men and a woman were treated at the scene before transport, while another man arrived at a hospital later.

Witnesses told KTLA that a group of people gathered near the intersection got into an argument before shots were fired. Hawthorne police had not confirmed what led to the shooting as of Thursday morning.

Officers from the Gardena Police Department and the Hermosa Beach Police Department also responded to the scene, according to Hawthorne police. No officers discharged their firearms during the incident, the department said, according to MyNewsLA.

Victims were found in separate parking lots and near a bus stop bench, KTLA reported. The New York Post reported that audio captured on the Citizen app included at least 10 shots spread across roughly one minute of footage. Hawthorne police said only that multiple shots were fired.

No arrests have been made.

The suspect or suspects fled before officers arrived, according to Hawthorne police. As of Friday, Sept. 25, police had not released any suspect descriptions and had not said how many people they were seeking, according to the Daily Legacy Report.

Crenshaw Boulevard between Rosecrans Avenue and El Segundo Boulevard was closed Thursday morning while investigators processed the scene, according to CBS News Los Angeles.
