Danny Boehle is bringing Fonz's back to downtown Manhattan Beach for five nights, reuniting the old crew and the famous meatloaf at the restaurant he co-founded.

The pop-up runs Wednesday, Sept. 23, through Sunday, Sept. 27, at Fête by Slay. Doors open at 4 p.m. each night. Reservations filled within 24 hours of being announced, but the bar area is first-come, first-served, the Manhattan Beach News reported.

Boehle and beach volleyball legend Mike Dodd opened Fonz's in 1997. The restaurant was named for Dodd's late father, whose nickname was "Fonz." Boehle bought out Dodd in 2005 and sold the restaurant in 2017.

Dodd, a Manhattan Beach native and Mira Costa High School graduate, won the silver medal in beach volleyball at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta with partner Mike Whitmarsh. He won five Manhattan Beach Open titles and was inducted into the International Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2012.

Former servers and chefs from the original Fonz's are returning to work alongside Boehle. TV screens will show reels of Dodd and fellow Hall of Famer Tim Hovland competing on the AVP beach volleyball tour. Hovland, inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2024, won 60 professional titles with Dodd, including six Manhattan Beach Open crowns.

The pop-up will also feature highlights from the 2023 Little League World Series. Boehle managed the El Segundo 12-U All-Stars team that won the championship on a 6-5 walk-off home run. He co-authored a book about that season, "Second to None," published in August 2026 with El Segundo native Dan Coonan, as ABC7 reported.

A separate lounge called the X Bar Speakeasy will feature additional screens showing volleyball footage and Manhattan Beach 6-Man highlights, according to Boehle's Instagram post previewing the event. Boehle's uncle's band will play on the final night.

"I think it's just going to be a party," Boehle told the Manhattan Beach News. "I want it to be fun … I think it's going to be an incredible [time] of love and old-school memories and laughing."

Walk-ins can try the bar area starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Fête by Slay in downtown Manhattan Beach.
